Solidarity Update Again

Hello,

Well, just when I was about to put together a fundraiser and large update, I became sick with a flu epidemic passing through the area. Bed-ridden for a few days with 103/104 fever and slowly recovering, I’m just now getting my wits about me, and I just wanted to give a short note.

Zoe’s situation has basically continued to be a wait and see, as the doctors have waited to see if she could be stabilized for her to be brought somewhere else for an MRI. Without the MRI, there hasn’t been a clear diagnosis of the root cause of her condition, but she was diagnosed near the end of July with Covid, and the suspicion is a brain viral infection from Covid, and meningitis.

Unfortunately, certain damaging effects are starting to settle in, according to doctors. She’s not responding visually, and her left-sided limbs may be tending to settle more and more into contortion.

She may soon be stable enough to be discharged from the hospital, in which case the family has found a temporary place in Quito for her mother to stay with her while they may seek to get the MRI and then get back to the hospital.

This Sunday August 20 is a fundraiser raffle in the pueblo here in Mindo. With all the tickets sold, there could be over $1000 raised.

I hope to have an online fundraiser ready to share with you before then. It will include two other efforts joining with communities supporting their needy.

There is a lot more to update about, too, so afterwards, I hope to share more.. As always, your prayer and other spiritual offerings are appreciated. And thanks for taking the time to read. May God bless each of us in the way.
